For a small suburb, you’d be amazed at the number of things to do in Harfield Village. This area has become a thriving hub in a village environment. From its renowned Second Avenue filled with cafes, restaurants, bars and small businesses to its nearby attractions within the greater Claremont and Kenilworth areas, there is plenty to do in Harfield village.

Things to do in Harfield Village

Here are just a few things to do in Harfield Village.

Wining and dining.

Although lockdown 4 has meant the temporary closure of the area’s bars and limited operation of restaurants, we have no doubt that things will resume once again. There are many great spots to enjoy a meal, cup of coffee or a few drinks. Second Avenue is where you’ll find most eateries and bars – Mexican, seafood, Caribbean, Thai, grills, pizza, and plenty more.

Fresh air and greenery.

Harfield is home to four parks that are suitable for leashed dogs. They have playgrounds for kids, beautifully cared for garden areas and plenty of space to walk. The area also has quiet roads surrounded by trees, making it ideal for walking, cycling and jogging.

Hair and beauty.

There are numerous spas, hair salons and beauty salons in the village. Indulge in a manicure or a massage, get your hair done, enjoy a revitalising treatment and treat yourself to some well-deserved pampering at one of the spas and salons found on Second and First Avenue or within the village.

Arts and crafts.

From clay crafts to mosaics, children’s play therapy and other arts and crafts, there are plenty of opportunities to unleash your creativity. You will also find locally made goods at stores on Second Avenue, which help you support our local artists.

Health and fitness.

The area is home to a few good yoga and pilates studios. A little further away in Claremont, there are also gyms and other fitness centres. Harfield is a fairly short drive away from hiking trails such as Newlands Forest and the Alphen Trail in Constantia.

With plenty of things to do in Harfield village, one thing’s for sure… you’ll never get bored in the village!
