The Harfield Village Association (HVA) is a very active, dedicated and involved civic association playing its part to ensure the wellbeing of residents in the area, and seeking to build and strengthen community, both in Harfield Village but also extending a friendly hand to neighbouring areas.

Harfield is indeed a small village with a big heart. Please join us, and help the HVA to expand and improve our impact.

Harfield Village is home to a number of health and fitness studios. It’s also a fantastic place to enjoy a run or take a walk. With its village atmosphere, picturesque surroundings, quiet roads and parks fitted with gym equipment, staying active in Harfield Village is not only easy… it’s fun, too. In this guide, we share some of our favourite ways to stay on top of your health and fitness goals this summer.

Staying Active in the Village

Staying active doesn’t mean spending hours at a large, impersonal gym. Although large gyms such as Virgin Active are within easy reach of the Harfield Village, we have many great alternatives that are closer to home. Here are some of the top health and fitness options offered in and around Harfield.

Yoga and Pilates

Yoga is a great way to move your body and calm your mind. We have a few yoga class options in the neighbourhood. Fit Panda is located at 104 2nd Avenue, offering a range of yoga classes along with pilates and barre. https://www.facebook.com/fitpandastudio

On the other side of Imam Haron Road, just outside of the village, House of Yoga offers a tranquil yoga space at 43 Heather Street. https://www.facebook.com/HouseOfYogaCT Yogah offers group classes in the comfort of your home or office.

Pilates studios and practitioners in the area include Body Control Pilates on 45 2nd Avenue. https://www.facebook.com/bodycontrolSA/

Outdoor fitness

Two of our fantastic parks are fitted with outdoor exercise equipment. These include Surrey Park and Purley Park. This equipment can be enjoyed for free by all visitors to the park. A range of strength and cardio equipment will help you stay fit while enjoying some fresh air. You can also enjoy cycling in the village and neighbouring suburbs.

Running and walking

Harfield is home to many runners, joggers and walkers. Whether you like to get in a decent run through the village into neighbouring suburbs such as Kenilworth or you’re happy to take a jog around our pretty tree-lined streets, you’re sure to find routes to mix things up.

The Celtic Harriers Running Club at Brookside Office Park in 30 Miller Road is a must for runners wanting to find running groups. https://celticharriers.co.za/

If walking is more your thing, you can enjoy plenty of quiet. Look out for fellow walkers, meet a few local dogs and take in the sights as you explore the area at your own pace.

You don’t have to be a local to enjoy the village, either. Head on down to Harfield Village, enjoy some of our health and fitness activities then finish off your day at one of our fabulous dining spots in the village.
