On Saturday, 10 July 2021, we invite you to Open Your Heart to Hanover Park. This is part of our regular sandwich drives that supports our sister neighbourhood, Hanover Park. Locals and visitors have the chance to get involved, donating sandwiches, non-perishables, clothes, books, toys, and blankets to communities in need.

With COVID-19 on the rise, dire economic situations and the devastating effects of lockdown, many people are struggling more than ever. As a community committed to doing whatever we can do to help, we believe that a problem shared is a problem solved.
The Hanover Park drive is an early Mandela Day initiative. We want to show the residents of Hanover Park that Harfield Village cares, that we are thinking about them as they endure many extreme challenges.
How to Get Involved
Getting involved is easy. You can prepare and drop off sandwiches and other non-perishable food items at the drop-off point between 09h00 and 12h00 on Saturday, 10 July 2021. Other items that are desperately needed right now include toys, blankets, clothes, and books.

Stop by and drop off, then enjoy coffee and a meal at one of our friendly cafes on Second Avenue to support our battling local hospitality businesses.
Guidelines for food donations include the following:

There are other ways that you can open your heart and give back. We have a food trolley at Rosmead SUPERSPAR and TOPS (67 Rosmead Avenue, Kenilworth) for food donations made while you shop.
You can also support the Hello My Name is HOPE project. At Rosmead SUPERSPAR and TOPS, you can purchase shopping bags and other items featuring messages of hope, love and happiness, with drawings designed by local artist Quentin Horn. Proceeds from the sale of these items go towards our initiatives to help the Hanover Park community.
In Harfield Village, we are passionate about creating a community. We believe that a community that cares benefits everyone.
Whether you are a local wanting to be part of our initiatives or a visitor wanting to experience a taste of life in the village, we invite you to be part of the change we want to see in the world.
